Folio 124. Newcastle to Lord Malton, advising that the rebel Highland army has by-passed Sir John Cope's forces and is marching towards Edinburgh. As they may attempt to venture into England, it is necessary for all counties to show their support for the king. He will therefore be sending instructions to all the lords lieutenants on the precautionary measures to be taken, when they have been decided. Although the king's troops in Scotland stand alone at present, they will soon be reinforced with 6,000 Dutch troops, including 2,400 from Willemstad and 10 regiments of foot at present in Flanders.
