Folio 114. Earl of Malton, at Wentworth House, to [Newcastle], requesting his instruction on the ways in which the gentlemen of Yorkshire can express their loyalty to the king, at the present time; and enclosing a letter from Major Hu[gh] Wentworth, commander of the regiment garrisoned at, and temporary governor of Fort Augustus, dated 23 August 1745, with information that the Pretender's eldest son had landed on the west coast of Scotland, and was only 6 miles away, with 3,000 Highlanders. They are therefore in constant expectation of an attack, but plan to resist bravely.
