Folio 121. Bishop of London to [Newcastle]. ...... I wrote to Sir Robert Walpole yesterday to desire his friendship to Dr. Clark, in case a vacancy should be made by the translation of the Bishop of Gloucester. But having not seen him since nor heard from him, I cannot tell what is intended to be done either with bishopric or deanery or prebend: however, as to the last, if a vacancy be made, your Grace sees my hands are tied up.
