Kendricke to Quarles. Encloses copy of his journal [missing]. Has received 2 letters from Quarles but because of ague is not well enough to reply in detail. Prospects for trade this season. Should be able easily to sell all the good cloth made. Hopes sales near home will compensate for falling-off in High Countries [i.e. Germany]. Hopes to sell his remaining cloth, but not by abating the price if he can avoid it. Wants no Reading cloths. Has not received the money he expected this week but hopes to get it next. Cannot yet therefore send Quarles the money he promised. Verhagon has promised Kendricke patterns of the cloth he wants provided. Newport has returned from Holland, leaving in Amsterdam £300 belonging to Quarles which a friend will send on by exchange as soon as possible. Edmond Fleete has run away and left his master in the lurch. Details of sales and means of payment. Exchange rates. Dated at Middleburg.
