Lowe to Quarles. Contents of letter of 24 September. Repeats details of 64 cloths sold. Details of 26 cloths sold since then. Has not got the prices he had hoped but thought it best to sell while customers still interested. Advises Quarles not to buy cloth at present, as prices too high. General advice on what to send. Financial matters. Should Lowe continue to assure Mr. Jackson's bills? If he does so, he risks Quarles's displeasure, if he does not, Jackson's bills will be protested, which would be unfair as he has helped Lowe greatly. Will stand by hin for the present. Has bought not wares as not commissioned to. Exchange rate. P.S. Has heard from Kendricke and understands fleet has arrived [at Middleburg] but that there are only 35 cloths for him, not quite what he had wanted. Asks Quarles to send more next time. Will do as Quarles says regarding buying wares and his attitude to Jackson. Dated at Stade [near Hamburg].
