Lowe to Quarles. Contents of letter of 8 November. 2 show days have passed, details of prices achieved there. Lowe unable to sell as Quarles will not let him sell under £20 per cloth and men not willing to pay so much. This is driving Lowe's customers away and working to Quarles's disadvantage. Men can get better cloth than Quarles has sent at £19 - Lowe has never known him send such bad cloth - will lose all his customers if it continues. Has been forced to take back cloths of poor quality. Has sold only 11 cloths so far and no hope of quick sales. Requests for cloths in the next year's fleets ... [end of letter missing]. Dated at Stade [near Hamburg].
