Lowe to Quarles. Contents of letter of 7 March. Sorry to hear Quarles did not manage to lade as many cloths as he had hoped for Stade. Fears this will be an occasion for other men's profit and Quarles will lose a lot of money thereby, especially if further fleets are banned until Michaelmas. Advises Quarles to send as many cloths as he can to Emden. Lowe has been accused of undercutting - did not mean to do so and will not lay himself open to further accusations. Financial transactions. Goods in Stade very dear. Will not buy until Quarles orders him to. Exchange rate. Dated at Stade [near Hamburg].
