Lowe to Quarles. Contents of letter of 8 February. General trade situation. Price of goods in Stade remains high - details. Hears 4 ships are to sail for Stade about end of February - if so, no need to send cloth in Interlopers, but send plenty in the fleet as much cloth will be needed for the army to resist the Turks, who are reported to be determined to invade Hungary this summer. Quarles should send at least 100 cloths in every fleet and 300 in the last fleet before winter. Strong N.W. winds have now cleared the river of ice and it is unlikely to freeze again this winter. Exchange rate. News of a bankruptcy. 22 February. Details of sales. Only 6 cloths now unsold. Dated at Stade [near Hamburg].
