Lowe to Quarles. Contents of letter of 25 November. Gives details again of the 157 cloths sold so far. Financial matters. Repeats views on types of cloths needed. Has not bought any wares to ship home because of the uncertainty of the times. Gives local prices of various cloths. Has received Quarles's letter of 12 November. Has been unable to buy the madder he wants in Stade, so will have to get it from Hamburg. It will not come in time to put on the ship about to sail. Even were it available here, it is so expensive, he would not buy it in Stade - Brussels madder has not been under 69s. per lb., whereas it used to be 30-40s. and even recently 50-55s. Will send home his accounts before Christmas - is preparing them as he has time. Financial transactions. Exchange rate. Dated at Stade [near Hamburg].
