Documents concerning the farm of the new excise on wines (ff. 189-193): 1. Neat version [in different hand] of f.192, with minor alterations, e.g. 'waters' for 'liquors'. [Incomplete]. 2. [In different hand from f.192 and from 1. above]: 'Anent the report of Sr Johne Smythis Committee'. Parliament approves the report in so far as it concerns outstanding debts to Smyth, and decrees that either the earlier opinion on the additional excise should be altered to confirm with a paper 'to be given in therwith', or that the excise for these two years [1649-1651] should be dealt with in such form as an act of parliament may order. A total of £400,000 is involved, including debts from England to Smyth, and he is to have a warrant to collect payment by all lawful and fair means. As for any further sums owing from the English parliament 'and qrunto the [? other] assignement sall nether [? pertain] ...'. [Incomplete].
