Acquittance by John Mcronald, 'writer in Edinburgh', son of Angus Mcronald of Ullodill, for 5,000 marks Scots from his father-in-law John Livingston (Levingstoun) of Nether Luggat, burgess of Edinburgh, agreed in the marriage contract of 16 April 1634 between Mcronald and Anna Livingston. Mcronald legally discharges Livingston from the debt, now paid in full, and he and his wife contract to bring no further monetary claims against her father. They agree to have this document registered in the books of council and session, and appoint [blank] their procurators. Several witnesses [names, together with that of the writer of the M.S., torn]. [Followed by] Note [in different hand]: Mcronald's procurator appeared and agreed to registration. [Signed]: Mr Wm. [? ...oblis]. [Endorsed, in yet another hand]: Names of parties and subject of acquittance. 'Julij 1636'. [Whole M.S. badly torn].
