Part of ? assignment of debt. [First section torn off]. James [? Fisher] of Easter Bothgelly and David Boswell of Cra[...] as principals, with Sir John Boswell of Bal[? gonie], David Boswell, fear of Bal[? gonie] and Sir George Boswell of Bal[? gonie] assureties, signed letters on [?] June 1628 promising to pay Robert [? Thallane/Thallang] £1,000 with £90 annual interest between that date and the following Whit Sunday, together with £200 'expenses' in case of failure, and 9 marks' [? interest] for each 100 marks of the principal to be paid in equal portions at 'the said day' and Martinmas during any period for which the above mentioned sums remain unpaid. 'And now for certain sums of money thankfully ...'. [Remainder almost totally illegible. Whole document dirty, torn and faded]. Marginal note [in different hand[? s]: Alex. Dick, Geo. Martine [several illegible words]. [Endorsed, in yet another hand]: 'Assign[? ement] Thallan[? e/g] To [several illegible words] 26 Mtij 163[? 4/9]'.
