Extract from the act book of the subcommissioners of the presbytery of Haddington. Eight of these officials [named], convened by Sir Robert Hepburn of Alderston, have been asked to agree a valuation of the tithes on the property of Sir Robert Richardson of Easter Pencaitland, tithes of which John, earl of Mar is titular. Witnesses [unnamed] confirm that the value in 'constant rent in stock and teynd' is 'fifteen chalderis ten bollis [measure of capacity for grain or weight for flour] ten pecks victuall thrid pt of quheit [wheat] thrid pt of beir [barley] and thrid pt of aittis [oats]'. The adjudicators therefore agree the valuation. The extract was made by Mr. James Gray, notary public, clerk to the subcommissioners. [Signed by] J. Gray and five [or six - defaced] of the subcommissioners. Dated at Haddington. Notarial sign.
