Further documents concerning legal proceedings in the Hamilton case (ff.153-157) [cf. ff.130, 138-141, 143]: (i) Extract from the act book of the lords of council and session. Elizabeth Inglis and Abraham Stewart appeared by their procurator Mr Lewis (Lues) Stewart, and agreed to accept the defenders' oaths of verity where documentation was unavailable. Since the defenders, although 'oftymes' summoned, have still not appeared, the lords have assigned 13 February for a further hearing. If the defenders are again absent, a decree against them will be issued. [Signed]. J. Hamilton. Clericus Registri. Marginal notes [apparently all in different hands]: Edinburgh, 4 February 1630. (ii) 1. ? Names of procurators: Stewart and Primrose (Primrois). [cf. f.157]. 16 February 1630. (iii) 2. Same names as 1. 3. [Partially illegible]: ? Primrose is to exhibit evidences etc. and to give his oath and raise any objections for the defenders on [? 5/15] March. [Endorsed]:, 25 February 1630. (iv) 1. Statement that the writer has borrowed the marriage contract [cf. f.130] between Robert Hamilton and Thomas Inglis and his daughter. [Signed]: Mr. Alexr. Cunynghame. 16 July 1630. (v) 2. 'Borrowit be me the contract betwi[? x] Eliz. Inglis and ...'. [Remainder of note, including signature, damaged]. 3.
