Further documents concerning legal proceedings in the Hamilton case (ff.153-157) [cf. ff.130, 138-141, 143]: Four replies [all in same hand, not that used on f.153] to the royal order. 1.-3. From John Stewart, sheriff in hac parte. On 30 December 1629 hepersonally summoned John Libberton at Edinburgh, on 8 January 1630 Thomas Edgar, and on 14 January Thomas Inglis, and gave them each a copy of the royal order to deliver all relevant documents to Elizabeth Inglis and her husband Abraham Stewart within three days under penalty of horning, or to appear within six days before the lords of council and session. Witnesses [named] to his actions. [Seals, said to be affixed, now missing]. 4. From James [? Daleine/Dalenie], another of the sheriffs in hac parte. On 10 January [day and year inserted in different hand], having failed to find John Mowbray, he left a copy of the summons [details as in 1.-3.] at Mowbray's house. Two witnesses [named] to his action. [Seal, said to be affixed, now missing].
