(i) Acknowledgement by John Hamilton, writer, of the receipt of 300 marks Scots from the right honourable Alexander Lauder of Halton, in accordance with an obligation of 10 June 1612, which also provided for 'expenses' of £20. The bond was registered in the books of council and session on 4 [? sic] June of the foresaid year. Hamilton quit claims and discharges the debtor, and agrees to the revocation of the letters of horning and caption taken out against Lauder at his instigation. He consents to the registration of this acknowledgement in the books of council and session, and [in different hand] appoints [blank] his procurators. [Incomplete; whole M.S. damaged]. [10 June 1612 or later]. (ii) [Endorsed, in same hand as last part of original]: John Hamilton gives his consent to registration in the books of council and session. [Signed by] Hamilton. 16 November 1613
