Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Gordon and Sir Thomas Hamilton against William Hay (ff. 115-117): (i) Extract from the act book of the lords of council and session. Sir Thomas Hamilton appeared personally, and John Gordon by Master AlexanderKing his procurator. The defender, although frequently summoned, was again absent. The lords have therefore assigned 15 May for a further hearing. The pursuer is to have letters to summon the defender to appear, bringing with him the relevant documents. If he fails to attend the court, the pretended lease will be declared null and void. [Signed]: Joannes Skene. Edinburgh, 4 March 1609. (ii) Three marginal notes [in different hands], recording further stages in the case, and ending 'and therefore the lords grant the [? cer]tification of this act'. [Endorsed]: 'Gordoun contra L.
