Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Gordon and Sir Thomas Hamilton against William Hay (ff. 115-117): (i) Royal order to sheriffs in hac parte [unnamed]. The detailed charges brought by Gordon and Hamilton are repeated. The lords of council and session have assigned 15 May for a further hearing. The defender is to be summoned and ordered to bring with him the pretended lease. If he defaults the lords will decree the lease null and void. [Signed]: James. J. Hay. '[?] M'tij 1609'. Seal. Notarial sign. Edinburgh, 4 March 1609. (ii) Note [in different hand, in third person] that John Mitchell has personally summoned 'Urie'. Two witnesses [named] to his action. [Endorsed, in two different hands]: 1. 'Gordoun contra L. Urie'. 2. By John Mitchell. Information as in note above. Seal. 11 April 1609
