Documents concerning legal proceedings: Hugh Halcro against George Millar. (ff 110-114): Royal order to John Brown and [blank], sheriffs in hac parte. The lords of council and session have assigned 8 March for the pursuer to present his case. The defender is also to be summoned to give his oath of verity touching the charges against him. If he is absent, he will be held to have confessed his guilt, and a decree against him will be made. [Signed]: James. J. Hay. ' viii Februarij 1611'. Seal. Notarial sign. [Very faded] [Endorsed by] John Brown. On 2 March 1611 he personally summoned George Millar, and gave him a copy of the summons. The two witnesses [named] to his action are Michael, son of George Millar, and Alexander Lout [? ... 'his' servant. [Signed]: Johne Brown, messr'. Seal. Dated at Edinburgh.
