(i) Ratification of a transfer of lands in Aberdeenshire. On 19 June 1595 John Leslie, senior of Balquhain invested Sir Thomas Gordon of Cluny, now deceased, with lands, mills and other appurtenances in Clatt and other places in the shire. In order to provide full security for Alexander Gordon, son and heir of Sir Thomas, Leslie and his son John, 'fear' of Balquhain, bind themselves to uphold the agreement. [Part of M.S. torn off. cf. f.108] 1. Signatures: '... elder his subscription ... [torn] at Femgeis' and of seven witnesses. 2. Statement [in different hand] that the transaction was recorded in the secretary's register of the sheriffdom of Aberdeen on 7 June 1608 'at the five hundret fourtie fyft leafe of the sevint [? h] buik' by Thomas Nycolsone, baillie of Aberdeen,' in the absence of James Mowat, 'Reiper of the said register'. [Signed, in different hand from 2. above]: T. Nicolson. Fingask and Aberdeen, 13 and 15 May 1608. (ii) [Endorsed]: Two notes that procurators for both parties agreed to registration in the books of council. Fragmentary. 13 December [?1608]
