Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Viccars against several debtors. (ff.103-106): Replies by Alexander Govan to the royal order [cf. f.104]. 1. On 17 June he personally delivered copies of the summons to Alexander Fairlie and Robert Hog. Two witnesses [named] to his action. [Signed by] Govan. Seal. 2. On 18 June he affixed a copy of the summons to the door of the dwellingplace of John Young at Duddingston, 'he being within his hous as I was informet'. Three witnesses [named] to his action. [Signed by] Govan. Seal. Marginal notes [in two hands, probably neither that of the sheriff]: 1. [Carat sign in 2. above, before Young's name]: 'Frances Finden, relict of ... Eustacius Rowek'. Govan knocked six times on her gate as well as Young's, and affixed a copy of the summons there. 2. 'And thereafter the samyn day [i.e. 18 June] I maid Intemation to hir personallye apprehendit and vairnet hir of new againe and gave hir ane copy'.
