Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Viccars against several debtors. (ff.103-106): Extract from the act book of the lords of council and session. Details are given of the debts claimed [cf. f.103]. The pursuer was represented by Master Umphra Blinsel his procurator, but the defenders, although often summoned, were still absent. The lords have therefore assigned 19 June for a further hearing, when the defenders are to give their oaths of verity. If they do not appear they will be held to have confessed their guilt, and a decree will be issued against them. [Signed]: Joannes Skene. Marginal notes [in two hands, one virtually illegible]: 1. 'Witness [? es] present at the bar'. 2. Since the defenders have again not appeared, their guilt is to be assumed. 3. '... absente [? s] ... conforme to the [?] of the [? summons]'. [Endorsed, in yet another hand]: 'Jon Viccaris contra Young'.
