Bond for debt of 420 marks by Michael Scott of Auchtermuchty, with his brother David Scott as surety, to Andrew Anderson. The debtor agrees to repay the principal by Whit Sunday 1607, with £50 'expenses' to Anderson in case of default. David Scott is guaranteed against loss. The brothers agree to have the transaction registered in the books of council, commissary's books of St. Andrews or sheriff's or steward's books of Fife. Master William Hay and [blank] are appointed to carry out the registration. The writer of the document is John Philp, notary. Several witnesses [named]. [Signed by] Philp, several witnesses and the Scott brothers. [Endorsed, in different hands]: 1. Notes that the Scotts have agreed to have the bond registered in the books of council. [Signed]: William Hay. 2. Names of parties. 3. '... Junij 1607 ...' [Faded]. Dated at Newburgh.
