Documents concerning legal proceedings: Archibald Inglis and others against Robert Lumsden. (ff. 81-84): Grant for life [cf. ff. 96, 97] by Robert, Lord Crichton of Sanquhar to his kinsman William Crichton of [? Hill/Hull] of the chaplaincy and altarage of the chapel of St. Nicholas in the parish of Sanquhar and sheriffdom of Dumfries, now vacant by the death of Robert Crichton, late incumbent; together with tithes, rents, etc. All tenants are commanded to pay the required dues. The lords of council and session are to draw up letters to this effect on William Crichton's behalf. The witnesses to the grant are Master Laurence Makgill and his servant William Sinclair. [Signed by] Lord Sanquhar and the two witnesses. Seal. [Endorsed]: 'William Chreichtoun in [? Hills/Hulls] gift of the chaplaincie of St. Nicolus disponit [to make over or assign to a person formally or legally] be Rot Lord Sanquhr patroun thereof... 23 Junij 1600'. Dated at Edinburgh.
