Documents concerning legal proceedings: Archibald Inglis and others against Robert Lumsden. (ff. 81-84): (i) Extract from the act book of the lords of council and session. Details of the charges are recited. Lumsden has once more not appeared. 12 Januaryis assigned for a further hearing which Lumsden is commanded to attend, bringing the relevant documents. [Signed]: Joannes Skene. Edinburgh, 3 January 1598. (ii) Marginal notes [in different hands, virtually illegible], all apparently connected with further postponements, owing to [? non-appearance of parties or procurators]. [Endorsed, in four different hands]:, 17, 18 and 26 January; 8-9 and [?24] February, [?15] November [1598]. (iii) 1. Order [? from the lords of council and session] that lawyer [? s], still alleging that [? he, ? they] 'cannot be heard', are to obey the court's summons. 15 November 1599. (iv) 2. Decree by the lords that Inglis is to be confirmed in possession, and the original charter and that of confirmation are to be delivered to him. [Signed by] Inglis. 3, 4. Names of parties to the suit. 10 December 1600
