Bond by David Moreis, merchant, burgess of Edinburgh, and his wife Rachel [née Lowrie] for a loan of 1,600 marks from John Boge. The surety is Alexander Reid, writer to the signet. Conditions for repayment by 8 May 1597 are detailed. [Signed by] David Moreis and five witnesses. [Endorsed]: 1. Master Thomas M [? awer] [blank for another name] agree [?] to appear before the lords of council and session or the provost and baillies of Edinburgh, as procurator for the borrowers, to register the obligation. [Signed]: David Moreis, Rachel Lowrie, A. Reid, Adam Lowrie witness. Edinburgh, 16 December 1596. 2. Statement by M [? awer] that on behalf of the borrowers he consents to the registration.
