(i) Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Maxwell against William [Maxwell], Lord Herries. (ff. 71-77): Extract from the act book of the lords of council and session. The details of John Maxwell's suit are repeated. The pursuer appeared by Alexander King his procurator, but the defender, despite repeated warnings, has not appeared. 13 July is assigned for a further hearing, when the pursuer must produce witnesses and all relevant documents. If the defender is not represented his guilt shall be held as confessed, and decree given against him. Depositions of witnesses already taken shall be 'closit' in the meantime.
