(i) Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Maxwell against William [Maxwell], Lord Herries. (ff. 71-77): Extract from the act book of the lords of council and session. Details of the suit are repeated. [The commissary's decree is here dated 6 August 1592]. The pursuer appeared by Alexander King [name over an erasure], his procurator. The defender, although often summoned, did not appear. 27 June is assigned for a further hearing. The pursuer is to have letters to summon witnesses and is to produce all relevant documents. The defender is to be present to hear the depositions. [Signed]: Alexander Hay. Notarial sign. Edinburgh, 18 June 1594. (ii) Marginal note assigning 13 July for a further hearing. [? Further arguments in the case]. [Dirty and faded]. 5 July 1594
