Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Anderson of Dunfermline against Bessie Paulle [née Cairns] and George Bickerton (Bikartoun) (ff. 59-69): Instructions [? by the lords of council and session] about interrogatories. To enquire of Anderson's witnesses if they can read or write. And because none but Andrew Chalmer of Burntisland can do so, to ask him if he knew the deceased Andrew Anderson, his age and dwellingplace, and where and in whose writing the reversione [obligation by a creditor whereby his debtor may redeem an estate which has been transferred to the creditor as security for a debt] was, with details. Also to enquire about evidence [? s] alleged to contain the conditions and provisions of the reversione [as above]. [Endorsed, in same hand]: 'Interrogatories Bickarton contra Anderson'.
