Documents concerning legal proceedings: John Anderson of Dunfermline against Bessie Paulle [née Cairns] and George Bickerton (Bikartoun) (ff. 59-69): Royal order to [blank], sheriffs in hac parte. The defenders are to be summoned to appear before 'us andour council' on 25 June, bringing the required documents, or to show reasonable cause why they should not do so. [Signed]: James. J. Hay. Seal. Notarial sign. [Endorsed] by [? Lhinne Wryt], sheriff in hac parte. On 16 June he personally summoned both defenders and gave them copies of the summons. Four witnesses [named] to his action. Seal.
