Excuses for nonappearance in above case [now stated to be one of attempted murder of Sheldon] not accepted from Thomas Smith and William Buston. Other defendants to appear again 24 May; Smith and Buston 13 May. Copy [? by] John Evans. Marginal note: 'Sheldon v. Smith et al.'. Dated at Ludlow.
