John Johnson to Anthony Cave (Chechely): his cloth at Glapthorn: has paid his uncle Worley £20 although it is an evil time. No news of the arrival at Bordeaux of the ship in which Cave has accepted 1/5 part: repeats offer of a share in the ships freighted for Spaigne, which he has assured at 6%: is confident of success and offers a share as to a friend: is sorry if Cave thinks his friendship so slender he must seek other; their reckonings. Sends specimens of the new coinage; the old 6d. has not been called in, perhaps because of the imprisonment in the Tower of the Duke of Somerset, Lord Graie and many others (named): wool business, etc.; to let him have 60 ewes and as many lambs, or 100 good lambs; London; 17 Oct. 1551; Copy.
