Description

This series contains miscellanea from the British embassy and consulates in Japan. Comprises memoranda of interviews with the Japanese authorities; translations from Japanese newspapers and other publications; special cases and claims; papers and correspondence (with a number of plans) relating to the foreign settlements and house taxation; marriage declarations and certificates, 1870 to 1887; correspondence concerning the visit of the Duke of Gloucester upon the investiture of the Emperor with the Order of the Garter, various treaties, conventions and agreements (a few being originals).
