Folio 228: Stormont to Weymouth. The court appears to be `ashamed' of the precipitate measures taken on the `idle report' of Britain's intended attack on Brest. The colonels will return to Paris and orders to troops to march out of Normandy are countermanded but naval preparations continue. The ship La Bretagne, with 110 guns and reckoned `the finest ship in the French navy', is put into commission. He details other naval reports and supplies bound for North America and refers to orders to La Motte-Piquet to ensure their safe arrival.
