Maurepas disclosed that the king of Prussia sent a secret note with his reply [see f.216], in which he insinuated acceptance of a partition of Bavaria, if the Imperial majesties would guarantee to him and his successors the margraviats of Anspach and Bareith [?Bayreuth], which they refused.
