Folio 196: Stormont to Weymouth. Intelligence from Nantes reports that the Hippopotame, renamed Fier Rodrigue, is preparing to sail for America with cargo and between 50 and 60 guns. Other ships are preparing in Nantes and [la] Rochelle. The Ranger is to cruise offGuinea. A Mr Austin is in England probably on a private commission from Franklin and Deane.
