Folio 128: Stormont to Weymouth. He describes the jocular manner of Maurepas as `his favourite disguise', when he asked if Stormont was reassured about the arming of 20 ships. It was Britain's preparations that were considerable. France's were only such as prudencedemanded. Stormont thinks they indicate immediate war.
