Folio 244: Stormont to Weymouth. He encloses f.246. He received at the same time a list of the French navy, which he has good reason to believe came out of Sartine's office and which is almost the same as the last list he sent [see f.214]. He points out the differences. It is certain that many French ships are preparing to sail for North America, laden with arms and ammunition for the rebels. One source puts the number at 60. Some officers have returned reporting the miserable state of the rebels, who cannot hope to succeed without help from Europe, in spite of their recent success.
