Folio 202: Stormont to Weymouth. Pearson [a messenger] was overtaken by a gentleman he thinks was dispatched to London by the rebel agents. Stormont thinks it is doctor Bancroft. He was met by another at Calais and they crossed to Dover in an open boat. The other man's name is known to captain Beaver of the king's packet, who has taken him over more than once. Franklin clearly carries on a secret correspondence with ill-intentioned persons in England.
Date and place: 1777 Dec 15 Paris.
