Folio 182: Stormont to Weymouth. While Franklin is elated at the success of the rebels, his supporters have insinuated that now is the time for Britain to make peace with the colonies and that, since Congress no longer holds Philadelphia, it might give up the idea of independence in exchange for honourable terms. Knowing Franklin, he suspects an insidious plan.
