Folio 156: Stormont to Weymouth. Encloses ff. 160, 161, 164. He had told Vergennes about the report that the American privateers from Nantes and L'Orient were to leave with 50,000 weapons. They could not be shipped without the agreement of the authorities. Vergennes said he would speak to Sartine and that the Raleigh and the Alfred had been ordered to put to sea at once. Orders had been sent to inquire into the treatment of Morrison. Ministers were impressed with Sandwich's report on the state of the navy. Reports from Bordeaux refer to a victory by Howe.
