Folio 160: Stormont to Weymouth. Maurepas wants peace but may not be purposeful enough to resist pressure and believes that Necker could finance a 2 year war without additional taxes. The king will want war, if he believes that Britain will not redress French complaints. Stormont urges full compensation, where justice demands it. He reports that a Frenchman, who has lived in England for 50 years and is connected with a ministry, gives information to Noailles. He names 2 people suspected of spying.
