Folio 136: Stormont to Weymouth. A long report of his talk with Maurepas arising from ff.93, 109, 122. He warned him solemnly and in unambiguous terms of the crisis in Britain's relations with France. He had spoken as himself but would speak to Vergennes as a minister. Maurepas said he would confer with Vergennes but said that France, too, had grievances.
Date and place: 1777 July 9 Paris.
