Folio 384: Stormont to Weymouth. The emperor's visit will begin in the middle of April but Breteuil has been told he must go to Vienna. Lacy has been ordered back to Petersburg. There are to be replacement mounts for the cavalry. St Germain's reputation and talentsare declining but Maurepas cannot replace him, having approved his reforms, which are so unpopular. Villers, treasurer to the king, and his wife have been sent to the Bastille. Guines has triumphed in his law suit [f.386].
