Folio 322: Stormont to Weymouth. He protested to Vergennes at the continued presence of the Reprisal in L'Orient and the selling of the prizes. Vergennes said orders had been sent at the time he said they were and that the Reprisal had left. Stormont demanded the return of the king's ship and restitution for the sale of any of the 5 prizes. They discussed f.301a, the case of the Vine. Stormont has just heard from Hunter that all [5] ships have been sold. The commissary has clearly connived at the sales but this cannot be proved.
Date and place: 1777 Mar 5 Paris.
