Folio 218: Stormont to Weymouth. Ennery has died, succeeded by Argout, governor of Martinique. Beauffremont and Estaing have been made vice-admirals of France, Beauffremont for the Ocean and Mediterranean, Estaing for Asia and America [see f.149]. The cavalry have been reduced to 18,000 men, because St Germain underestimated the cost of his new plan. Baratinski reports the Russian occupation of Perecop without resistance.
