Folio 410: Stormont to Weymouth. He hears that the cabinet Council has met to discuss a Spanish complaint that a small English squadron is shadowing her fleet at Cadiz. Aranda wants war. He has heard of preparations for war in French Flanders and that several projects for invading England are being submitted to the government. Irish officers believe that Britain will raise more regiments for America and may admit Roman Catholic officers. Many Irish officers would like to quit French service and return to their allegiance.
