Folio 339: Stair Douglas to Gayton. The log of the Squirrel, and the affidavits of the officers are sufficient answer to Monteil's absurd claims. He cites another case of a French offer of help 10 or 11 leagues from shore to a schooner being investigated by the Squirrels' tender. He encloses f.341.
Date and place: 1776 Oct 4 on HMS Squirrel Port Royal harbour Jamaica.
