Folio 333: Statement by John Douglas, commander of the schooner Lady Caroline, from Philadelphia, loaded with provisions. When 5 miles off land, he was chased by an English frigate and a sloop, both firing many shots. The French frigate could not get out of the harbour. He had abandoned his ship one mile from the harbour.
Date and place: 1776 Sept 14 Molé St Nicholas.
