Folio 324: Vice-admiral Gayton to Stephens. He describes the incident of a French frigate demanding the release of a rebel schooner taken by the Squirrel on waters claimed to be French by the French commander. He also refers to the packet Anvia Teresa leaving her convoy, to illicit trade on the Mississippi, to Spanish customs officers seizing two sloops. Gayton reports that ships under his command have taken 46 rebel vessels, including 8 by the Diligence at Pensacola.
